Dr. Birgit Schoeberl is currently the Global Head of Data42 at Novartis BioMedical Research (BR), based in Cambridge, USA. Data42 is Novartis' R&D data lake and analytics platform, driven by a cutting-edge analytics team. Its mission is to accelerate drug development by integrating data across research and development.
Throughout her career in biotech and pharma, Dr. Schoeberl has been recognized for her innovative contributions in drug discovery and development, particularly through the use of data science, AI/ML and quantitative systems pharmacology.
Before her current role, she led Modeling and Simulation in PK Sciences at Novartis, where she built a novel and well recognized Data Science and Modeling & Simulation function. Earlier in her career, she served as SVP of Science Delivery at GNS Healthcare and was a founding member of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, where she pioneered systems biology approaches to drug development. Dr. Schoeberl earned her Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from the Max Planck Institute in Magdeburg, Germany, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT, where she developed early computational models of signaling networks.
