Mohammad Kohandel is a Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and the School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, and a member of both the Waterloo AI Institute and the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology. His research lies at the intersection of mathematical modeling, artificial intelligence, and biomedical sciences, with a focus on cancer diagnosis and treatment, immunotherapy, and drug development. Dr. Kohandel leads the Mathematical Medicine Laboratory, where his team integrates mechanistic models, machine learning, and emerging technologies to advance personalized medicine. He is also actively involved in developing interpretable and physics-informed AI models, and has collaborated extensively with academic institutions and industry partners worldwide.
