James Lu (PhD) is a Senior Principal Investigator and Drug Discovery Programme Lead at A*STAR Bioinformatics Institute in Singapore. Prior to his return to Asia in 2025, he served as a Distinguished AI Scientist at Genentech Inc. (USA), where he led pioneering efforts at the intersection of machine learning, pharmacology, and clinical development. With over a decade of experience spanning Genentech, AstraZeneca, Roche, and academia, Dr. Lu has advanced AI-driven approaches for disease modeling, digital health analytics, and model-informed drug development across multiple therapeutic areas.
Dr. Lu is an active contributor to the scientific community, currently serving as an Associate Editor of CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology, the Scientific Programming Chair for ACoP 2025 and serves on the Scientific Organizing Committee of the annual Population Approach Group Europe (PAGE) conference. He co-chaired AI-focused initiatives for the Innovation & Quality (IQ) Consortium between 2021 and 2025.
