Francois Mercier, PhD, a Distinguished Scientist at Roche-Genentech, is a highly accomplished pharmacometrician based in Basel. With over 25 years of extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Francois has built a diverse career across various roles, including both individual contributor and manager, at leading companies like Novartis, Certara (formerly Pharsight), and Roche. His international footprint spans France, the USA, and Switzerland, providing a broad perspective on global drug development.
Throughout his career, Francois has demonstrated a profound impact on clinical programs. He has been instrumental in three successful drug submissions (Gilenya, Ocrevus, Entrectinib), contributing to CTD sections and engaging in critical Health Authority Q&A sessions and advisory committee meetings, including one FDA AdComm and multiple FDA and EMA Type B/C meetings. His expertise extends across over 50 clinical studies and approximately 20 CSR/Analysis Reports in diverse therapeutic areas such as oncology (solid tumors), multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, pain, spinal cord injury, and T2DM.
His areas of interest and contribution include dose-exposure-response models, Bayesian statistics, causal inference, and empirical disease progression models. Francois is a recognized thought leader, evidenced by over 60 articles, 50 oral communications, and 60 posters. He actively shapes the future of pharmacometrics by leading significant cross-industry initiatives, including a working group on Causal Inference in Pharmacometrics and another on Oncoestimands in early development.
