Scientific Director
Pharmetheus AB
Niclas Jonsson, Ph.D., is a Co-founder, Principal Consultant and Scientific Director at Pharmetheus. A recognized leader in the pharmacometrics community, he is the co-creator of the widely used software tools Perl-speaks-NONMEM (PsN), including the stepwise covariate model building tool scm, and Xpose 4. His current work focuses on both refining established methods, such as the development of the more efficient scm+, and pioneering new approaches like the Full Random Effects Model (FREM), which offers a novel and robust approach to covariate analysis.
Throughout his career, Dr. Niclas Jonsson has bridged the gap between academic innovation and industrial application. Prior to co-founding Pharmetheus in 2012, he served as the Global Head of Modeling and Simulation at Hoffman-La Roche in Switzerland and as a Senior Consultant at Exprimo NV. His academic career includes roles as an Adjunct Professor of Applied Pharmacometrics at Uppsala University, where he lectured in both pharmacometrics and biostatistics, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He holds a Master of Science in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Biopharmaceutical Sciences from Uppsala University, Sweden.
